We all have those friends whose only response when asked what or where they want to eat is “I don’t know” or “I don’t care.” I’ll admit it: I am that friend.
With social media feeds full of delicious-looking food content and rooftop bars with amazing views and pretty drinks, it’s easy to build a catalog of places to reference when that dreaded question pops up. The best part is it involves apps you’re probably already using daily.
Watch this video for easy ways to choose a great spot to eat.
Restaurants near me
The next time you’re scrolling through social media and a delicious dish or rooftop bar catches your eye, add it to a favorites list on Apple Maps or Google Maps. You can add it to an existing list or create one specifically for your food finds.
The easiest way to add a restaurant to this list is to first find it in your preferred map app.
- For Google Maps users: Find the Save option, which should be a few options over from Directions. Tap Save and add it to an existing list or create a new one. There's also an option to add a note to the restaurant, so you can easily remember the mouthwatering dish you saw.
- For Apple Maps users: Tap More and select Add to Guides. You can create a new guide or add it to an existing one.
To find the saved restaurants or guides:
- Tap Saved at the bottom of the Google Maps app.
- Swipe up on the search bar area on Apple Maps, then scroll down to My Guides.
It’s also super easy to share your list or guide with friends. If you’re using Google Maps, make it a collaborative effort and let your friends or family add to it, too.

Save Instagram, TikTok post
Another way to keep track is to save the social media post to easily find it later.
On Instagram, tap the icon that looks like a ribbon on the bottom right side under the post. If it’s a Reel, tap the three dots, then Save.
You can add it to an existing collection or create a new one.
You can also create a shared collection where your friends, family, or significant other can add content.
After tapping the save ribbon, tap "Create a collaborative collection" underneath your existing collections. Then, select the Instagram accounts you want to share it with.
To find your saved posts, view your Instagram page, tap the hamburger menu on the top right, then, tap Saved.
When saving a video on TikTok, tap the icon that looks like a ribbon under the like and comment buttons.
To find a saved TikTok video, tap on your profile then tap the ribbon icon underneath your profile's biography.
Now, when the dreaded question of “Where do you want to eat?” arises, you'll have a list of options readily available.
