Nick Cannon has endless love for ex Mariah Carey.
The Wild 'n Out star recently reflected on his past relationship with Mariah, who he was married to for six years after saying "I do" in 2008. When asked who is the love of his life in a March 18 interview with The Shade Room, Nick, who has been open about Mariah's special place in his heart, referred to her by noting, "Like the greatest? I mean, I always talk about that. Then, it goes viral and all her fans get mad at me."
Not only did Nick say Mariah is his greatest romance, but he also gave reasons on why he admires her and their past relationship.
"I was 12 years old with Mariah Carey pictures on my wall, and that becomes my wife," he recalled. "And the fact that she's the coolest person I ever met. She's just always happy, always doing for others. No matter what's happening in life. I'm like, ‘Wow, a person can really operate like that and don't allow negative energy into they space.' "When I found that out about how remarkable she was, that woman is not human. She's a gift from God."
In fact, Nick credits Mariah for helping mold his personality, adding, "I get a lot of this delightful disposition from her."
Nick and Mariah, who share 11-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan announced their split in 2014, before officially filing for divorce the following year. In 2016, their divorce was finalized.
Since parting ways from Mariah, Nick has welcomed 10 more children. The 42-year-old is also dad to 6-year-old son Golden "Sagon," 2-year-old daughter Powerful Queen and 5-month-old Rise Messiah with Brittany Bell; 21-month-old twin sons Zion and Zillion and 4-month-old daughter Beautiful Zeppelin with Abby De La Rosa; son Legendary Love, 8 months, with Bre Tiesi; 6-month-old daughter Onyx Ice Cole Cannon with LaNisha Cole; and 3-month-old daughter Halo Marie with Alyssa Scott. Nick and Alyssa's first child together, a baby boy named Zen, died from a brain tumor in December 2021 at age 5 months.
On Mariah's end, the "Obsessed" singer has been dating boyfriend Bryan Tanaka for over five years. Back in July, Nick said that he "truly respects" Bryan, but that he views his past romance with Mariah as something special.
"The dude is amazing with my kids and we have family gatherings and things together so I truly respect it," he said in a July episode of The Hottee Talk Show Podcast. "But come on, that's my fantasy love. That's somebody that I will always love."
Despite such feelings, Nick noted that their dynamic may be different a second time around if they did reconcile.
"It was literally like a fairytale with Mariah so I would rather it just be that way and I appreciate that fantasy because if I try to go back and it wasn't the same, I'd be like, ‘Damn, I messed it up,'" he said. "But, if I had the opportunity, if it could be the way it was, I'm there."
